September 3, 2019… It was the first day of school for many people in the Edmonton area today!
It was so heartwarming seeing all of the bright, eager faces of students young and not-as-young on my feed throughout the day. I absolutely love seeing how much everyone has grown since their last first-day-of-school pictures! Even more so, of the students starting a milestone year! Special shout outs to my friends who they themselves are back in school now too!
I always looked forward to the first day of school. From getting to use my new school supplies, to seeing old and making new friends, to finding out what we’ll be learning in the upcoming year… I love learning and everything else that comes with being a student.
By pure coincidence, I signed up for more learning last night. I’m currently learning so much in my Birth Doula and Postpartum Doula certification programs through Doula Canada, and they’re offering a workshop in Edmonton that I absolutely could not pass up. Upcoming in October, they’re hosting a workshop on Advanced Comfort Techniques. The workshop will teach birth workers like myself knowledge and skills beyond what I have in my toolbox right now! I’m beyond excited to expand my knowledge and skills to help my future labouring clients. Of course, getting to meet more birth workers in my area is a wonderful bonus too!
